Color Study Crush - Nathalie

Hello everyone!

Nathalie with you today to share a new layout with Color Study.  If you have received the new collection, then you will understand why we all are crushing on every single piece.  It is amazing!!!

I had to right away break into it and create a new page - the first with this collection-.

 

 

The inspiration for the page were the colors of the balloon and the clothes my niece are wearing.   Of course, I had to add a splash of mixed media to the page

 

 

A bit of diluted (gray and black) art crayon create the first layer of mixed media on the page. Once it dried, I used one of the new stencils to add a bit of texture to the page with Iridescent glaze.

 

 

To bring a pop of color, I chose to add a bit of fuchsia art crayon with my stencil brush to the stenciled application, ending with a few splashes of the same diluted color.

 

A celebration of becoming a teenager needs a explosion of color... and COLOR STUDY delivers it beatutifully.   I mixed some of the papers with ( all from the paper pad) with ephemera and stickers.   The small slit on the side of the layout creates a peek-a-boo style detail that helps to anchor the small banners to the page.

 

I will never get tired of seeing Vicki's handwriting!  and  the chipboard piece that forms part of the title is amazing, plus gold foiled.   I added the number 13 as part of the title, then used the stamp set to help add more movement to the page.    The finishing touch all the small gold foiled dots scattered around like confetti!

Piechart/Circle challenge

Hi there and happy NSD! I am happy to be here today to share a circle challenge to you all!

The new Color Study collection has so many great circular elements in it, I thought I woudl offer up a super easy circle challenge to you all for NSD!

 

I created a free pie chart cut file that works great for this challenge, so please head over to Vicki Boutin Community Page to grab this freebie!

My challenge for you is this - use 3 circular elements on your project to complete this challenge!

I also had the chance to play along with Vicki's nw Gel Crayons on my project - I really love the watercolor affect on the background of the project.

I just LOVE the Gel Crayons - they are so easy to use and I really love the subtle depth of color they add to a background. How amazing are those layered flowers too?? I just love how they look on this project - another circular element ;)

iNSD Challenge With Mari

Hi everyone!  Welcome to the Vicki Boutin blog!  One of my favorite days of the year is International Scrapbooking Day; such a fun day of inspiration and sharing the love of scrapbooking worldwide! My challenge today is to create a monochromatic color scheme layout.  I really wanted to challenge myself to crate a completely black and white project.

This is a huge departure from the usual for me, and certainly a contrast to the color in the beautiful Color Study collection; however, that's the point of a challenge, right?  So I just dove in and tried this out.  I started my project with Foundations paper and the black Art Crayon.  I taped off the edge of the paper and applied the watered down crayon with a brush and a plastic sheet.

I applied the pigment by using a wet on wet technique.  I covered the entire white space with pigment.  I also stamped the pigment onto the background with stamps from the Color Study stamp set.  I added some Vicki Boutin Silver Glaze through the small Bubbles stencil to some areas around the stamped flowers.  This adds a reflective texture to the background.  The big tip with all of this medium work is to allow things to dry between layers.

I also stamped on some tissue paper with the Color Study stamps and some of the Vicki Boutin black metallic ink.  I layered that paper behind my 4x3 black and white photo.  I layered my floral cut file behind the photo mat.  I added some black washi tape from Color Study below the photo to ground it on the page.  I added a circle die cut from an older Vicki collection to the left of the photo.  I fussy cut florals from the Color Study Gallery paper and popped them up on foam to the left of the photo.

I also added the camera die cut from Color Study to the right of the photo. I used the Be You from my cut file as the title.  I added Black Soot Distress Ink to the edges of the title letters to add a border detail and popped the letters up on foam adhesive. The embellishments in the top right corner add a bit of detail and balance to the layout!

iNSD 2021 Stencil Challenge with Nathalie

Hi there, and Happy NSD!

Today we are celebrating, what Vicki calls Christmas for Scrapbookers, interNATIONAL SCRAPBOOK DAY.   While Vicki is busy sharing a new Color Study class with a large group of attendees.  Mari, Nicole, and I want to share a bit of inspiration, fun, and a chance to win prizes.

 

 

My challenge today is all about using a stencil on your project.   I just love the new stencil designs from Color Study, and wanted to use them to add a bit of texture to my page.

 

I used one of the new premade mixed media backgrounds as the starting point for my page, then added pops of color with art crayons.  To add texture on my page,  I chose to mix gesso and gold glaze and use the pie chart stencil to create the impression on the page.
