Hi there! It's Laura here sharing a layout for the Disney album I am working on that inspired me to use all of the metallic goodness that Vicki has. The photo is my friend's son with Merida from Brave. Her gorgeous red hair inspired me to try mixing stuff up to match her hair and guess what- it worked!
To match her hair, I mixed Rose Gold paint + Red Pigment Powder and a few dabs of the reddish gold ink triangle from the Metallic Color wheel on a plastic sheet. I added a little of each and then kept adding small bits of each until I found the right hue. This is my suggestion of how to mix color; start with a little of each and then take turns adding little bits until you find the right color. Just like cooking!
My initial idea was to run the red mixture I made through the wave stencil, just like her wavy hair. But, then I laid this fun tag on the blue background I made (inspired by her dress, the recipe is Silver paint + blue pigment powder + dabs of metallic gold again run through the script stencil) and the red waves felt like too much. So, I used an alphabet die I have and cut out letters from the pattern I made to spell her name.
I love how this page features so many elements from the collection that have sparkle.
I hope you try mixing some of the different elements to see what kinds of colors you can make. Happy crafting!
