Hi there!
Nathalie with you today bringing you a layout that documents one of our many travels. As parents of a competitive Soccer player for 14 years, we traveled all around Ontario, Canada and the US to attend my son's tournaments (now he coaches and travels solo). I have so many memories from all those trips, so i pulled a few pictures from one of our trips to Ottawa on Canada's day to create this page. Now if you think Canada day, then you are hoping to see red, but i think this layout can better be renamed, "For The Love of Green"...
I just love the pictures of the girls, and that lime sweater was the inspiration for the page, and though the design changed through the process, i love how easy this came together using a bit of mixed media and the Let's Wander collection.
For the background, i used a mixture of Juicy Pear, Blue Hawaiian and Mint Julep watercolor markers to create the first layer of color on the page. I simply mixed the colors, dilute them with water and then used the acrylic sheet to add the impression on a Foundation paper. Once it dried, i added the impression of the Map stencil using art crayons (Ochre and Fuchsia) and a stencil brush.
I also pulled a piece of the Pre-made mixed media Backgrounds paper ( older release) to use as the base for the embellishments in the page. Here i mixed a bit of the iridescent glaze with a bit of Juicy pear texture paint and added it through the star stencil (Let's Wander collection) onto the page. Once the impression dried, i used the star dies included in the Stamp set to cut the paper into star embellishments.
To assemble the page, i cut pieces of paper from the 6x8 paper pad, Lost in Paradise and Hello Adventure papers and layered them behind the two pictures of the girls at Parliament Hill. I layered the papers so that you can see pops of the pink and city map details behind the pictures.
I used the star die cuts as embellishments throughout the page. I placed a few of the stars in a zig-zag position around the pictures. I added small pops of pink to each of the clusters, as pink is one of the colors that pops in the page, too. Embellishing the page with the new collection is fast and easy as there are so many cute ephemera, stickers, chipboard pieces to choose from.
To balance the page, i chose to set my title along the left edge of the page. First i used one of the branding strips and then added a bit of washi tape (lots of stars in this page)under it. I spelled the word OTTAWA outside of the layout and chose to add an ombre effect to the letters with art crayons and a stencil brush. The final touch was adding small splatters of fuchsia to the page - i mixed art crayon, iridescent glaze and water to create them. You can see this page come together in the following video:

I hope this inspires you to pull your travel memories and the collection to create treasured keepsakes. Remember to contact me if you have questions about the page.
