Hello! Laura here and today I am sharing one of my absolute favorite techniques- working with the negative space of an enlarged photo. I have done this so many times and never tire of it!
For this layout, I am working with a photo of my best friend's son sledding. The snow is the perfect backdrop for the layout so all I had to do was crop the photo to about 9x12 then add a 3" border on the left to widen it to a 12x12 square. You can use the Color Dropper tool to do this. (Here is a video of some of my favorite Photoshop tricks for scrapbooking.)
I cut out a small section of the Vicki Boutin Ready to Use Mixed Media paper pad and adhered it to the left edge of the image. I embellished on top of it with various pieces from the Wildflower and Honey collection and then used a piece of ephemera from the Wildflower and Honey collection to peek out of the bottom. Last, I put his name on the bottom with some American Crafts thickers.
Let's hope this layout brings some snow to my area- I am ready for winter. Happy crafting!
