Hello! Vicki's Artful Techniques Challenge is such a fun way to try some new things. I started with a combo of 2 of the 50 techniques- brushstroke and mask it. I have done the masking technique shown here before in a previous layout but I was interested in trying it this time with some heavier mediums. Also, who says you can't do something twice if you really like it?
I started by placing some Gina K Masking Magic Paper over pre-printed journaling spots measuring 2" and 3". Then, I decided to challenge myself to use as many of the sizes of my Vicki Boutin paint brushes as possible with a variety of mediums. If you're anything like me, you get comfortable with the familiar and need a little nudge to get out of your comfort zone. This was that nudge!
I used the brushes to spread watercolor, texture glaze and paint, as well as a mixture of all three together at times. I used the same basic stroke for the whole spread, varying the thickness as well as the length but always doing a semi circle stroke.
Last, I used a white paint pen to do a tiny bit of doodling on some of the strokes to highlight sections and create a little extra interest.
I placed a few of the Wildflower and Honey chipboard embellishments on it and voila I was done!

I hope you challenge yourself to try this technique combo!
