Hello Vicki Boutin fans! Leigh here, with a new layout featuring my favorite color. Tiffany Blue, or the azure color of the sea. Whatever you call it, it is a calming and soothing color for me. Have you created a monochromatic layout with your Vicki Boutin supplies? It was fun to see how many patterns had the lovely blue-green color!
In Vicki's collections, this color is called Blue Hawaiian. I used a ruler and penciled in a diamond shape, and then painted with a VB Water Brush. I let lots of water flow onto the White Foundations Paper to give that watery look to the diamond shape. Some splatters were kept close to the center watercolor diamond.
After the watercolor dried, I pleated the patterned paper by scoring it first. I scored on every inch mark, and again one quarter of an inch away from that line. Then, I folded the two patterns to create the pleats. This pleating gives a wave feel to the layout. I think the soft circular patterns on the paper are a good juxtaposition to the hard edges if the diamond shapes. I punched diamonds from all the blue-green patterns I could find in the Color Kaleidoscope collection. I used black and white as neutrals on this layout. I stapled on some of the chip board word strip Thickers from the Hello Friend pack.
Next, I added five epoxy hearts, and the epoxy title to the layout. Some of the epoxy hearts are on top of diamonds, and some are on the background. This gives some interest to the page. The tile reads "Big Heart" once you have all the pieces on the layout.
This close up shows how the pleats and the epoxy hearts look a little better. The blue-green color creates a serene feel, and I love that the different patterns from the 6x8 paper pad are featured by punching them into the diamond shape.
Add a photo trimmed into a diamond shape. I layered two layers of patterns underneath the photo, from the 6x8 Color Kaleidoscope paper pad. Then, I layered that over white card stock. The final step is to add some journaling to the page. I think this page has a clean masculine feel to it with all the straight edges, and hope it inspires you to create a layout with your favorite color today!
