Hi there!
Nathalie with you today to wrap up our sketch week here in the Vicki Boutin blog. Jana has provided a fun sketch for us to work with (thank you Jana!), and for a change, i actually stayed true to the sketch and totally was inspired to create this page using Vicki's latest collection, Color Kaleidoscope:
and here is the sketch that was the inspiration for this layout:
It all started with one of the pre-mixed media backgrounds to which i added a bit of gesso through one of the Color Kaleidoscope stencils. Once the impression dried, Blueberry Pie and Blue Hawaiian watercolor markers were added to the background so that they mark the area where the layers and pictures will sit.
The sketch calls for a grid with lots of paper layers and a center focal point; so, i started with two pictures, and cut a few of the papers from the collection -to the same as the picture- to add as a layers behind the picture.
To create my focal point, i pulled a few stamped images (these were created with the collection stamp on one of the pre-made mixed media paper pad) and layered some of the fussy cut florals -from one of the collection papers- These flowers help bring color to the page, and pick some of the colors from the background.
The only change made was moving the journal lines from the title square to the diagonal opposite position, plus the frame/card ephemera helps balance the grid nicely. A few drops of gold ink complete this page. I have created a small video to show you how it all came together:
Now it is your turn to be inspired by the sketch to create a project of your own. You can find a copy of the sketch at the Vicki Boutin Mixed Media Community, or just download it from this post. I cannot wait to see what you create - remember i am always around if you have questions on how this came together!
