Hi there!
Nathalie with you today to share a few ideas on how to combine Stamping and the new Watercolor Markers in cardmaking. I am not an avid card maker, but i think this simple ideas will help you use your watercolors and stamps when personalizing cards, and trust me you are going to love how Vicki's products make this cards come together easily.
For my first card, i chose to create a background using watercolor markers, only. For this ( and all the cards here), i cut a mixed media paper insert for the junque journal in half, thus creating 4x6in card pannels.
A bit of painter's tape was used to secure the card and create a frame on the pannel. Then small amounts of water was added to the pannel followed by some watercolor pigment. A brush helped to move the pigment around. These steps were repeated for all the colors and then the pannel was set aside to dry completely.
To assemble the card, first two butterfly images were stamped on vellum using pigment ink. These were layered together with a glue dots, this creates the dimension on the wings, and then glued to the card. The Sentiment was then embossed to the card base. The pannel was backed with papers from the Color Kaleidoscope collection and then glued to a card base. Simple and clean card with lots of color and dimension.
For the second card, the flowers and leaf from the Color Kaleidoscope collection was used to gold embossed a few images on mixed media paper. These were detailed using a bit of water and pigment from the watercolor markers.
Once the images dried, they were fussy cut and then layered in a large cluster at the bottom of the card. A sentiment made up of Chipboard from the Color Kaleidoscope collection complete this colorful and bold card.
For the last card, i combined a bit of both the previous cards into one. It all started with having the small dashes embossed onto the card pannel using white powder. Then the watercolor markers were used to create an ombre background on the entire pannel, and set aside to dry completely.
Once the background dried, a series of banners -created with the Color Kaleidoscope stamp and die set from white cardstock and Color Kaieidoscope papers- were attached to the top part of the pannel. A simple sentiment from the Field Notes chipboard set completes this card. I have created a video that shows how these came together:
I love the clean and simple look of the cards, and how easy it was to mix a bit of stamping with the Watercolor markers to create them. Remember to check VIcki's stuff, you will love it!
