Hi there!
Nathalie with you today to wrap up the Sketch Challenge week. We always love having that starting point that sketched provide, and this new sketch that Jana created for us is versatile, fun and easy to adapt to different types and sizes of paper crafting. But let me show you what i have created using Vicki's Color Kaleidoscope collection and a few goodies from previous collections based on the sketch.
This is the original sketch that Jana (thank you so much!) has created for us this month:
If you see my layout, then you can tell that i stayed true to the sketch and just changed the shape of the pictures, layers and accents. But it all started with some of the new watercolor markers in the background. I chose a rainbow color combo to document these pictures of my funny niece.
The position of the pictures in the sketch gave me the idea to create two sides of the rainbow a cool and warm side, and used the new Watercolor Markers and a bit of water on a gessoed foundation paper to add the color to the page.
To finish the background, i added a bit of stamping using the Escape stamp set from Field Notes collection with some archival ink, and then followed that with a textural layer. This time, I chose one of the new stencils and iridiscent glaze to create this layer.
To build the layout, i used a circle cutter to create the picture shape and cut papers to layer behind the picture. The circle accents in the original sketch were replace with this hearts from the 6x8 and 12x12 paper pad. I simply layered them together using a machine stitching, and then prop them with foam adhesive on the layout. The title and clusters on the pictures were created using embellishments from the Color Kaleidoscope collection.
To complete this page, the paper strips at the bottom of the page were replaced with washi tape and papers from the Color Kaleidoscope collection, and decided to mirror these paper strips at the top of the page. I have created a video that shows you how this came together:
I hope you use the sketch to create a project of your own. Remember to visit the Vicki Boutin Mixed Media community page on Facebook to pick the sketch and see what others are creating. As always please contact me if you have questions on how this came together.
