Hello friends! Leigh here, to share a sketch challenge layout with the new Color Kaleidoscope collection! I love the triangle feature on the sketch, and chose to add two more clusters like it to the layout. Do you love working from a sketch? I sure do!
I chose to add to the pre-printed elements on the background paper, Side Note, and followed the layered look of the tags at the bottom right. Once I added all the elements over it, it is hard to tell which is printed on the background and which is layered after the fact. It was fast and easy to create this page, because I started with such a great design already on the paper! The sketch then made it a breeze to add the clusters to the layout.
I layered on triangle shapes and stickers and die cuts to each of the three clusters. Inspired by the Side Note paper, I added labels, tags, and the blue circle cup ring to each of the groupings. I created the cup ring by painting the edge of the White Gesso lid with the Blueberry Pie Watercolor Marker.
At this angle, you can see I popped up most of the added page elements with foam dots. Lots of different textures are used in each section, to add more interest to the page. I layered the stickers from the Card Stock Stickers with Foil pack, and epoxy sticker hearts too. I fussy cut the florals and also used the stickers on card stock, then fussy cut them out so I could pop them up as well. The strings on the tags add more texture to the layout.
Next, I layered on the photo and some heart outlines, punched in white to carry the background color up to the top. I stapled on the word strip stickers with black staples from Magnolia. The photo is at the top, like the sketch, near the largest triangle as a focal point.I like the triangle shape, because it reinforces the shape of the people in the photo; tall in the middle, and shorter on the outsides.
