Hello friends! I have a mood board layout inspired by the garland photo on the mood board. Because it is Valentine's Day soon, I chose to punch the heart shapes as my garland. The mood board has so many fun choices to inspire your paper crafts this week! I used all new supplies from the Color Kaleidoscope line!
You can see why I named the layout "Heart Strings". I love the place where our photos, paper art, and words collide, to create a part of our story. What story do you want to tell today? The new Color Kaleidoscope line was perfect for capturing my heart today.
First, create lots of different mixed media areas with your Watercolor Markers from the Color Kaleidoscope line and the White Foundations Mixed Media Art Paper. Then, punch out hearts from the patterns in Color Kaleidoscope, and combine them with hearts punched from your mixed media paper. I added the mixed media hearts so each color would span across the entire layout. Add the hearts to a string of color coordinated embroidery floss, and staple them twice to form an "X". This "X" is another subtle nod to Valentine's Day.
Trim an inch off two sides of a sheet of White Foundations Mixed Media Art Paper, and add all the strings of hearts to the page as shown. The pink title was created with the epoxy Thickers in the Color Kaleidoscope line. Splatters were made with the Watercolor Markers to color coordinate with some of the strings.
Add the teal pattern "Side Note" behind the white art paper. You can add more embellishments from the epoxy sticker set, if you want some different texture to the page. I added an odd number of the epoxy hearts to the layout.
This photo shows the pattern on the hearts a little better, since I didn't brighten it as much. The angle also shows the acetate layer I created on top of some of the hearts. The Vicki Boutin Acetate is part of her mixed media lines. I used her Watercolor Markers to color on the acetate and let it dry thoroughly before punching it. I layered the acetate layer on top of a white punched heart, and placed the embroidery thread under it to give more interest. It is hard to capture the clear quality of the acetate, but it looks so cool in person!
I added circular photos, and typed journaling to the layout and it is finished. I would love to see your take on this Heart Strings Layout! Be sure to share in the Vicki Boutin Mixed Media Community, or tag us on Instagram! Thanks for visiting today! Leigh.
