Hi there!
Nathalie with you today for the last post of the year! It is amazing how fast 2018 has ran! It seems like just yesterday when i received the email inviting me to be part of Vicki's first DT, and now i am here ready to show you my top 5 of the year. 2018 can easily be marked as the year of learning for me; i went from liking mixed media to loving the process, along the way i got to get to know VIcki outside of the workplace, and then was introduce to a world of creatives in the VIcki Boutin Mixed Media community, so i can really say that 2018 has been amazing.
- MY GIRL, this layout is one of my favorite projects of the year as it introduce me to a new way of adding interest to my beloved vellum papers. AS many of my projects, this one was created with no plan in mind, just with the idea to experiment on vellum. I still remember keeping my fingers crossed as i the video showed the moment i added gold glaze to the vellum using a stencil brush, and it didn't curl. Thank God for voice overs that can cover all the yelling behind the scenes.
- One of my favorite projects of the year happened outside of camera. I think having all the prompts from the Summer camp helped me to take some time to play with all of Vicki's projects without having to worry about the results, it was my time to experiment with media, and this is one of those pages. I started by using Matte gel to decoupage the Tim Holtz paper, then i used acrylic paint to add a color base, then played with art crayon and stencils and to finish add glazes and art crayon to the border. Love the color and blackness of the page, and what Vicki calls "My Dark Side".
- The 1, 2, 3 JUMP! layout is another of my favorites of this year. Once again it all started with no plan in mind, just the need to play with mixed media to see what i can create. Here is where i discovered that iridiscent glaze and watercolor can create a color modeling paste, and that adding water will make it less brittle and more pliable to work with. In addition, i love how easy it was to transform a mixed media journal page idea into a background for my layout.
- Another one of my favorite projects has to be the Always Grateful layout. I love the color contrast of the gesso, the navy background, the iridiscents splatters and all the pink in the page. The week before Vicki had shown, in her Facebook Live sessions, how a bit of gesso on black could create a very striking background, so i had to try it, and love how this turned out.
- It was so hard to narrow down the list, but this colorful wreath had to make it to the list. The Magical Moments layout was created totally inspired on the December Moodboard. I picked a bit of each of the images of the board to create this iridiscent snowflake circle. Trust me this page sparkles with the light.
And there you have it my top 5 projects of the year using VB products. It really was hard to narrow down my choices to 5, but i think that through the pages i can see progress and how much i have learned throughout this year of making mistakes and learning to use them. I cannot wait to see what 2019 will bring (all i can say, is that i am so excited for you all to see Vicki's new collection... Still swooning after it!!)
From all Jana, Leigh Ann, Vicki and I we hope that 2019 is filled with peace, love and a sense of adventure. We are so thankful for your support this year, and hope to be able to share more inspiration in the new year!
Have a Happy New Year!!!
