Hi everyone, Jana here with you today and i have made my first christmas cards today. I love to use non-tradiotionell colors for my projects and today i decided to go with green and turqouise/blue for this set of cards.
I started this project with a lot of cutting, i used a simple star shape in my silhouette software and four different patterned papers from the Field Notes Collection. But also added some kraft paper to the mix. I can´t help myself, but kraft and gold is perfect for christmas, right?
I used a 12x12 sheet of the foundation paper and made six 4x6 cards out of it. The foundation paper is perfect for mixed media! I also grabbed the Gold Glaze for my cards. This media is awesome, you can water it down and use it for splattering, just fun!
Art Crayons were used for my background coloring here. I grabbed two colors and watered them down, i used a small acrylic block for the kissing/smudging technique. This is so much fun and so easy to do. I mixed the colors together and also added some splatters.
Like i said before, i also used the Gold Glaze for splattering. Can you see the milky "water" on top of the Gold Glaze splatters? I just used a paper towel to soak it up, it´s perfectly fine underneath. After everything was dry i started to layer my stars together. I distressed the edges from the stars, just because i love how this is looking. I found some old christmas stamps in my stash and used them for this set of cards. I wanted to bring in some black, i know, and so i stamped in black and also stitched a few times around the card in black. I love the contrast!
I started with the Gold Glaze and my favorite stencil from the {ink spill} set for the next pile of cards. I used the patterned circles because they reminded me of christmas balls. I also used the same Art Crayons for them, just because i had so many stars left and i wanted to use them...
I added a lot of water to get some running colors and some different shades of the art crayons. I really love how this is looking next to the Gold Glaze! Once everything was dry i started to layer the stars, but this time only two of them. I used some white Watercolor Stickers on top of the stars and stitched them all together.
As you can see i also added even some more Gold splatters on top of everything. I had a lot fo fun with this set of cards today and i really hope you´ll like them too!
