Hi there! Nathalie back with you today with a look back at my interpretation of the June Junque Journal Homework Prompts. It is amazing how fast the month has passed, honestly, it feels like we just started Vicki’s Junque Journal challenge a few days ago. Time really flies when you are having fun!
Before showing the prompts for week 3 and 4, first let me show you a few of the pages that were missed in the previous share. This page is for the Neutral prompt, and it was created by running some gesso through the flower stencil , followed by some neutral art crayon. A baby wipe help to buff the gesso (thus bringing out the white color of the gesso), and then the page was finished with some navy art crayon splatters.
Copy Cat: for this I used a gessoed insert, and added white and fuchsia art crayon using the stencil brush to the entire page. A baby wipe was then used to pick up some of the color of the page through the circle stencil. The circle stamp set was then used to create a series of ‘flowers’; the flowers were then cut using the dies that come included in the set. Love the texture and dimension on the page.
Part of my set up was to divide the prompts into weeks, so that they would be easier to manage. For my week 3 dashboard, I used the Mix it prompt as inspiration. I started creating drips on the page using the dark maroon art crayon. Once that dried, I added a few rose gold glaze stars to the top of the page (used a stencil to create the shapes)
For the Mix it prompt, I used a combination of the purple, violet and gray art crayons to create the background of the page (this is a paper from the 7x10 paper pad that has been gessoed). The same crayon colors was then mixed with some rose gold glaze, and then run through a stencil to create the glazed impression on the page ( I saved the left over glaze, to create a few more prompts!)
This prompt is a combination of mix it, and stencil. First I used a baby wipe to clean a stencil on top of one of the inserts. This creates a ghost effect of the stencil on the page. Next, I used the brownish art crayon, circle stencil and stencil brush to create the impression on top of the star shapes. Next I used the dangle stencil, gold glaze and the brush add the shapes to the page. Love how easy this came together!
For the Mix it again, I chose to mix the medium blue art crayon and some gold glaze to create the watercolor background. Next I used the stencil brush to create a soft impression of the script image using a bit of gold glaze. The watercolor background was the perfect set up to document a picture of my daughter. All I kept in mind is to stay with the two colors and used them throughout the page.
I tried at best to utilize both sides of the page. So I chose to use the stencil brush to add yellow art crayon to the page, then followed with some maroon crayon through a stencil. A bit of rose gold glaze was then used to add a few flower impression to the page.
This page is my take on Vicki’s latest Facebook Live episode, This time, I used the blue and grey crayons to add drops of paint to the page. Then a bit of stencil creates the look of a flower branch on top of the drops. Then I used the same crayons to stamp the flower images on the page. Love how this turned out!
This is a combination of some of the prompts. It all stared with adding some light green crayon to the page using the stencil brush. Then I used a baby wipe to clean a previously used stencil thus creating the impression on this page. To finish, a few drips of gold glaze were added.
Now we are going to look at week 4. I used the ‘kiss it’ prompt to create the watercolor look of the dashboard. Once it dried, a few images were stamped using black art crayon. Super easy and fun page!
Rainbow time, and this is my take on the prompt. I was inspired by Vicki’s page. This time, I chose to create a ghost image of an stencil , and then used some stamped images to add the color on the page.
These two are formed using the Kraft prompt. I chose to use the white crayon and the circle stamp set to create the shapes on the paper. Next the stencil brush was used to add color to the center of the stamped circles, and then I stamped the center of the circles using some diluted gold glaze.
Love how easy this was to put together, and then decided to copy the technique but create a complete scrapbook page. The only change is that I used some rose gold glaze to the page (using the flower stencil), and then went ahead and finished the page with a picture of my kids.
This is probably my most favorite prompt of the month. Just like the title says, I used only the black crayon to add a few drops to the page, and set it aside to dry. A few flower and butterfly were stamped on vellum; these were fussy cut and ready to complete the page.
Using some black ink, I added a few stem images from the flower stamp set, and then created a large cluster with the flowers that were just created.
Finally the last post for June is all about Shine/Sparkle. This was a fun one to create, first I water down some of the glaze left over from one of the pages, and used this to cover the entire page. Those circle stamps sure are a favorite, and were the ones used to create the shapes in the background. Then I mixed acrylic gel and glitter and add it to the center of the images. A few more stamped images complete this page.
Well that was a bit of information. Honestly time flies when you are having fun! The following video will show you a complete look of the June prompts in my Junque Journal:
Now it is your time to get to work on some or all the prompts. July is about to come, and I cannot wait to see what Vicki has in store. Remember to join the Vicki Boutin Mixed Media community on facebook to see the prompts, and so much inspiration being shared there.
