Hi friends! Thanks for joining us on this lovely Wednesday! I am in the process of packing up for Crop & Create Calgary! It is going to be an awesome event! I plan on doing my Facebook Live from the show. Have you joined me for a Facebook Live yet? This past Monday I decided to join the #100dayproject. I am a few weeks late from the official beginning but I think that is ok. Why I need this challenge? I want to create without a purpose. I want to make for the pure joy of making. I need a reason to stop and make everyday (or as close to that as possible). And, I think it will be fun. So...I am going photo free...zero pressure...making art with a few themes...ALL IN MY JUNQUE JOURNAL! And use the extra inserts and VB Mixed Media, of course! Can't wait! Hope you will take the challenge and join me.
Now that I am done rambling, I am excited to share this lovely page from DT member Jana McCarthy! She took my colour challenge and created this stunning Scrapbook Page with POPS of colour and a little black to ground everything. I think it is fabulous! Take a closer look...
Hi and Hello, Jana here with you today. I have a FUN new Project for you. Have you seen the Color Mood Board?!
Vicki posted it in our Facebook Group (Vicki Boutin Mixed Media Community) and you should go and check it out and for sure, join our group! So much inspiration… but let´s talk about my Layout.
As usual I started with a 12x12 sheet of the White Foundation Paper and added a thin layer of the Matte Acrylic Gel. I love this stuff, because it dries very quickly and you can also add a lot of water on top of it, or mix it with different Mediums. In this case with Acrylic Color (I am working with Acrylic Color Pop Set 3 today) and I love how this is working through a Stencil. Just awesome!
The pink script was my first layer this was followed by several layers of other acrylic colors. I mixed them with water, so that I can use them like watercolors. I stamped with them and I added lots and lots of splatters.
But that was not enough for me and so I grabbed the Art Crayons and added some of them with the big brush and a stencil on the previous layers. Look how pretty that is…
I also wanted to add some CutFiles from the Just Nick Store and decided to go with some Hot Air Balloons which I backed with some black All The Good Things patterned paper. I LOVE the touch of black. There is also some black in the picture and because of that I needed some black on the background (Art Crayons) and a CutFile stencil. I am so happy that I picked that color, because everything else is so bright and the black really pops off the paper.
I wanted to stay in black/white for the elements and so I grabbed some of the Butterflies from the Watercolor Stickers and I really like how that is looking and they are matching with the feel/theme from the Hot Air Balloons
You can find the CutFile here - Up in The Air
The only things I stuck behind the picture was a piece of notebook paper, some tissue paper and two little DieCuts from the “All the Good Things” Frame Pack. I added some wonky journaling to one of them and the last things I´ve added are some Enamel Dots. I really had fun with this Layout and I really would like to invite you to play along and be inspired by the colors from the Color Mood Board.
I also have a little Process Video for you to watch - HERE
