So excited to finally reveal my newly "refreshed" creating space! I seem to use all of these names for this area in my house interchangeably...Scraproom...Studio...Craft Room...Hoarder-Bomb-Exploded-In-Here...you know, it's called a lot of things. At the end of the day it is the place where I "make".
When we moved into our new home nine years ago, the first room I decorated was my scraproom. In the house plans this room was considered the formal dining room. I always knew it would be my place. I carefully collected items that would fill this special space. There were storage containers, the perfect table, decor items and shelving units. I was all set. I designed a room fit for the pages of a magazine...literally.
My little space was featured in Better Homes and Gardens- Scrapbook, Etc magazine and then later in this coffee table book...
Then in this Cloth Paper Scissors issue...
Definitely exciting stuff!! This little room has served me well.
But...it has never been my main work space. It mostly just looked pretty and I used the computer in there. It also was a collect "all" space.
See all of that junk??
This is where I worked...
In the basement family room. Or at the kitchen table. My stuff was EVERYWHERE! It was time for a change.
Leading to the perfect segue to my new space!
In early July I started cleaning out my room, I painted the walls, I purged, I purged, and purged some more, moved furniture around, built furniture and bought a few new pieces. I condensed the two work areas into one space. I finally finished the room this past weekend. It was a HUGE undertaking! Now that it's done...it was totally worth it!!! I CAN NOT wait to start making!!!
Here are a ton of photos and there is a video tour at the end of this post that I put on my YouTube channel.
