Happy Monday, my friends. I hope you had great weekend and Happy Father's Day! It was busy around here. I was wrangling the dust bunnies, we went to Port Dover and had company yesterday. Now I need to get my week started off right. Today I want to post an overview of my trip to Puerto Rico to teach at the Memory Box's Scrapbooking Event. Later in the week I will post photos of the event, the people, the place and the good times!
Here are a 10 things I learned in Puerto Rico....
1. Puerto Ricans LOVE to celebrate and they do it with style! Love that..

This is the room my first class was in. Friday was a VIP day and I had 100 students. EEK!

This was the swag each student received...WOW! Speechless.
Everyone was HAPPY, eager to learn and oh so patient with my attempts to speak my limited "what I learned from Dora the Explorer" spanish! If you won a prize...you danced. If you went to the crop...you danced. Good Times...Good Times!
2. Puerto Ricans aren't affraid to experiment and try new things...

Working away with DecoArt stencils in my class.

Getting messy in Christy Tomlinson's class.
I taught two layout classes at the event. Layout classes are not the easiest to teach. Lots of cutting...in two languages...but everyone persevered and had fun doing it. They were relaxed in all of the classes and went with the flow. Loved that! Just go with it and see where the journey takes you!
3. A good TA is the best gift! This was Laura, my supper duper helper...

This girl anticipated what everyone needed and did it with style!!! Laura made this teaching experience one of my best. Gracias, mi amiga!!!
4. Always amazed at the wonderful people I get to meet and work with some and I am thankful for every new thing I learn in the process...

From left to right Yamille (organizer extraordinaire), Christy Tomlison (my art/business woman idol), me, Marion Smith (font of information and color mixer supreme) and Ania Dabrowska (true artist)
When the event was over on Sunday we had a bite to eat and the ladies wanted to sit down and create. To be honest, I wanted to go to bed but I persevered. So glad I did. We had the best time. I loved getting to know these women better and this experience made me want to come home and make art from the heart. And to be a smarter business woman. And to get messy. And to keep in touch. Good eggs this bunch.
5. People who take time out of their busy days to make your experience special are priceless!!

This is Glorimar and her daughter Stephanie. They took us out to see Old San Juan and then we spent a few hours shopping!!! They were AWESOME and so generous with their time! Thank you so, so much!!! Muchas Gracias Amigas!!!!!
6. The definition of a "crop" in Puerto Rico is TOTALLY different then anything I have experienced in all the places I have visited in the world.
I do not have any photos of the crop night and mixed media challenge. Let's just say I was covered in paint and having way to much fun to take photos. I Puerto Rico a scrapbook crop consists of dancing, karaoke, the electric slide, rums of the world, and more. It had very little to do with paper and paste!!! Thanks for the laughs!!!
7. Old San Juan is one of the most beautiful spots I have ever visited!!!!

Pictures are worth a thousand words.
8. I am attracted to the strong and silent type...

9. You can find a great Pina Colada in Old San Juan...

10. I CAN"T WAIT TO GO BACK!!!!!
On a side note...I am so impressed by the height and pure awesomeness of the shoes the ladies wear in Puerto Rico!!!! I only wish I could walk in 6 inch heels! But, if you visit San Juan and you go shopping for shoes with size 10 feet...you are out of luck!!!!
I had a great time in San Juan. Thanks to all of the people who took my classes and made me feel welcome. I hope to make it back one day and stay longer so I can experiece so much more!!!!
I have way more photos to share and I will do that this week!
