A Card for a Friend and a Winner!!!!

Well I'm back from my so called vacation!  I always find that I need a vacation after my vacation when we visit Florida...Disney/amusement parks...in particular.  Fun but exhausting.  We went to Magic Kingdom, Blizzard Beach, Typhoon Lagoon, both parks at Universal, a day at the beach (Gulf side) and some shopping.  Funny...I was up at 7am almost every morning.  We met Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Piglet, Donald Duck, Woody Woodpecker, Storm and Captain America.  We tried Butter Beer (OMG...SOOOOOO good!!), swam with sharks, played in the sand, shopped at Target, flew with Harry Potter and so much more!!! 

 

 

 

Glad to be home...but swamped for the next 2 weeks!  Off to Crop & Create in Burnaby on Wednesday.  Home on Monday and off to the Puerto Rico Scrap event on Thursday.  Needless to say I will be absent from here for a bit.  But before I head back to the work I wanted to share a few things...

 

 

So excited for my friend Jennifer McGuire and her beautiful new baby Lila Grace!!!  She is such a wonderful mommy and this new addition has been greatly anticipated!!!  Congrats to the McGuires!!!  Hug that baby tight!!!

To mark this special occassion a bunch of girls have made cards to welcome baby Lila Grace.  Check out the cards HERE on Jana's blog.  This is mine...

 

I made a little paper piecing with circle punches.  I used some of the new baby girl lines from Bella and Doodlebug and some Little Yellow Bicycle.

The Crop & Create sounds fabulous! I'm in CA though so I doubt I'll make it this time.... would love to one day though!

I'm using up odd ball photos from last summer and snooping around on the internet to find inspiration. You always have cool techniques and I enjoy experimenting with them. NSD Giveaways and a Little Tutorial**Giveaway Closed!!!**

I am a little late to the party!!!  It is so nice outside today and we had a little sleep over guest lastnight so my day is starting late.  Where to begin!?!?!

Now for a little something I whipped up from my challenge on May 1st.  I used the photo placement idea and layer masking to make a card.  I decided to wait on the tissue technique.  Here is the card...

 

And here are the steps I used to create it!

 

The bits.  My Twirly Bird and Love Notes stamps.  A card base, scraps, Pan Pastels, a mask and ink.

 

I stamped the bird on my frame diecut and stamped it on scrap paper and cur it out to create a "mask".

 

I tacked the "mask" in place and stamped the Love Notes in olive.

 

Attach the frame to the card and leave the mask in place.

 

Place the mask over the card.

 

Rub pastels over the mask with your finger to create a pattern.

 

Rub a little pastel around the stamped mask as well.

 

Voila!  A layered mask on the original stamped image!  An oldy but a goody technique.

 

Layer scraps around the bottom edges of the card and trim away overhang.

 

Fun and quick and these ideas can be used on a layout and any of your crafty adventures!

National Scrapbook Day is Tomorrow...

I wanted to share a few tags I whipped up using my Creative Foundations stamps from Stamping Bella.  I had some time to play at Crop & Create in Moncton and this is what I came up with on the fly...

 

These are the Joournal Strips turned into buildings.  Also used the Label set and In So Many Words.

 

This is Twirly Bird and Ranger Perfect Pearls, Love Notes stamp and Label It.

 

Love this!  I made Ranger Distress Stain splats and used Pan Pastels with the Love Notes stamps and a Label It stamp.

Kicking It Old School Today and a Winner

Hey' all!  Feeling a little nostalgic today and thought I would take a look back on some past projects.  I find as I am working on a project that I sometimes like to go through my "archives" to look for ideas to "upcycle".  Some of them are really worth reworking, blowing the dust off and trying again.  Here is what I found...

 

I like the photo placement on this page I did in 2010 for Basic Grey.  So this is the idea number one.

 

Here is an old one from Scrapbooks, Etc magazine (note: love that the DIY flower and the Wall Decor features are my projects on their site!)  Love the masking up the center. 

 

Totally going to do this...idea two.

 

This card was for Scrapbook & Cards, Today magazine.  The window is a stained glass technique with tissue.  Hmmmm...idea number three.

 

To sum up, I have three techniques...random photo arrangement, layer masking, stained glass tissue.  Did you know National Scrapbooking Day is this Saturday?  I am going to cook something up with these "upcycled" ideas.  Should be fun!  Want to play along?  You can use these ideas or three recyled ideas of your own.

Kitchener was a blast and I am off to the Creative Festival in the morning! I just finished another Mixed Media board with leftovers from the class in Oshawa last fall at Scrapfest, so I need me some more 7 gypsies!!! Take care & keep on creating!
